  • Year 5 Ancient Egypt Workshop

    Published 28/05/25

Year 5 had the opportunity to exercise their curiosity around Ancient Egypt, during Wednesday’s workshop. They developed their creativity and communication when taking part in a variety of activities, including creating amulets, shabtis dolls, mummification, painting, cartouche, using hieroglyphics and guarding the palace. The royal party have been inspecting our work throughout the morning and keeping control over the gossip being spread throughout the palace. In the afternoon, pupils prepared a variety of entertainment for the royal family, whilst being served a royal feast of cheese, apples and bread.

     Pupil Voice

“I really enjoyed being the queen because I got to tell people what to do. I like that we got to choose our activities and children were able to dance and be creative for the entertainment part. It taught me about the River Nile and how Egyptians would grow crops.” - Lola

“It was really fun pretending to be a guard because I was able to protect people in the palace. My favourite creative part was when I used the clay to make a canopic jar, amulets and shabti dolls. The workshop made my learning better because it taught me about punishments in Ancient Egypt and the River Nile.” - Benny

“I used my curiosity when I was using the charcoal to make ink and write on papyrus. I used communication when asking question, finding out gossip about the Egyptians and sharing it with other people. It was the best workshop I’ve done, because we were trusted to make choices and be in charge of ourselves.” - Mani
