Pupils travelled to Orsett Cricket Club to showcase their striking and fielding abilities. We played five games of cricket, and with each game, the team improved and grew in confidence.
We played exceptionally well, with some individuals hitting big when in the batting crease. The team demonstrated teamwork, sportsmanship, and determination throughout each match.
Well done to everyone involved.
This half term, Herringham hosted their exciting Sports Day, filled with a variety of track and field events that showcased the talents and team spirit of students and staff. From sprints to tug-of-war, the day was full of friendly competition and fun for everyone.
Congratulations to the Owls for winning the trophy, demonstrating outstanding teamwork and athleticism! The event was a fantastic success, fostering school spirit and creating lasting memories for all involved.
Year 5 had the opportunity to exercise their curiosity around Ancient Egypt, during Wednesday’s workshop. They developed their creativity and communication when taking part in a variety of activities, including creating amulets, shabtis dolls, mummification, painting, cartouche, using hieroglyphics and guarding the palace. The royal party have been inspecting our work throughout the morning and keeping control over the gossip being spread throughout the palace. In the afternoon, pupils prepared a variety of entertainment for the royal family, whilst being served a royal feast of cheese, apples and bread.
Pupil Voice
“I really enjoyed being the queen because I got to tell people what to do. I like that we got to choose our activities and children were able to dance and be creative for the entertainment part. It taught me about the River Nile and how Egyptians would grow crops.” - Lola
“It was really fun pretending to be a guard because I was able to protect people in the palace. My favourite creative part was when I used the clay to make a canopic jar, amulets and shabti dolls. The workshop made my learning better because it taught me about punishments in Ancient Egypt and the River Nile.” - Benny
“I used my curiosity when I was using the charcoal to make ink and write on papyrus. I used communication when asking question, finding out gossip about the Egyptians and sharing it with other people. It was the best workshop I’ve done, because we were trusted to make choices and be in charge of ourselves.” - Mani
This week, pupils at HPA have been using chalk to develop their curiosity and creativity on the playground. In the sunshine, pupils were creating their own games to learn their spellings, taking inspiration from their curriculum learning to draw masterpieces and designing obstacle courses. The atmosphere was calm, engaging and exciting. Pupils were proud of their creations and cannot wait until their next chalk day!
"I drew flowers and me and my friends wrote our names and initials. I enjoyed it as it is something new that we don’t normally do. We used our curiosity to explore different drawings." - Bethany, Year 6
"I enjoyed creating a tic, tac, toe game with my friends and being able to play something different. We also created a game where you give each other a word and the other person had to hop to each letter to spell it. I used my creativity by making new games." - Darcie, Y5

The boys' football team made history last week by clinching both the league title and the play-off finals in a thrilling display of skill and teamwork.
Their journey was marked by hard work, determination, and a strong sense of camaraderie. Each match brought its own challenges, but the boys rose to the occasion, showcasing their talent and resilience on the field.
The team demonstrated exceptional strategy and execution, dominating their opponents with a combination of solid defence and powerful attacking plays.
This remarkable achievement not only highlights their dedication to the sport but also serves as an inspiration for future teams.
Our nursery families had an amazing time at Forest School, enjoying the great outdoors with lots of exciting activities! From climbing trees, making muddy masterpieces in our mud kitchen 🎂🌿, and building towering block creations, to cooking delicious pancakes over the fire 🔥— there was so much fun and learning for everyone!
Last week, the Year 4 students had an exciting opportunity to take a backstage tour at the Royal Ballet and Opera’s High House Production. They ventured into areas usually hidden from the audience, discovering the intricacies of set design, costume creation, and the technical elements of a performance. The children observed how costumes are made, how lighting and sound are managed, and how props bring scenes to life. They even got to design their own costumes and meet industry professionals working behind the scenes. This experience deepened their appreciation for the dedication and teamwork required to bring a production to the stage.
On Tuesday 25th February, we were joined by The Brush Bus. The Brush Bus’s primary objective is to support oral health providers with the highest quality resources in order to deliver effective oral health programmes and reduce tooth decay in young children. The children loved learning about good oral health and the best techniques for brushing their teeth.
We learnt this song today to encourage the children while brushing their teeth. https://youtu.be/cVcsYNNXsRY?si=842JsSqeCeeF-ZQB
